- David Amerson and Jeron Johnson both returned to practice last Saturday but did not partake in full-team work.
- Jay Gruden said Logan Pulsen will indeed have season-ending surgery for turf toe. The Redskins will only have one tight end (Jordan Reed) who was on there roster last season.
- OLB Junior Galette joined practice this week and has looked really explosive and has stayed really low at the snap. He took over for Trent Murphy in most third down situations. He took a few snaps at right end in nickel situations also. He would have gotten to the quarterback a few times and you can see the energy he brings to the field. The Redskins expect him to start opposite of Ryan Kerrigan once the season begins. Galette said that he will likely play in the third preseason game vs Baltimore. A report came out saying the Redskins are hoping for only a 2 game suspension for Galette, but 106.7 The Fan’s Chris Russell said that a Redskins source said they “Don’t see 2 (games).”
- Jordan Reed is also back at practice and said he was hopeful to play in the 2nd preseason game vs the Lions, but head coach Jay Gruden said he wouldn't play in it even if it were a regular season game. As he is still recovering from his hamstring injury.
- Rookie guard Brandon Scherff is still showing a lot of what he’s know for: Power. He often lets defenders get into his chest, but has enough power to not get driven back.
- The Redskins worked out 3 tight ends in the afternoon on Sunday. They ended up signing two of them in Ernst Brun Jr. and Ex-5th round pick (2011) of the Green Bay Packers D.J. Williams. Williams won the Mackey Award for being the nations top tight end while attending Arkansas. During his two year stint with Green Bay, he appeared in 26 games and caught nine passes. He was out of football this past season however. Burn has not played since his senior season at Iowa State in 2013. He was slowed by injuries that season though, as he only caught 6 passes in 8 games. During his junior season he caught 32 passes for 377 yards and 6 touchdowns. Burn made an impressive one-handed reception near the sideline during Monday’s practice session.
- Gruden said Ryan Grant is their best pure route-runner. Only issue for him is playing time. As the guys ahead of him are DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garçon.
- Cornerback DeAngelo Hall went off to the side with the trainers during Monday’s practice, but did not look like a serious injury. He is considered day-to-day with a left toe injury is hoping to play Thursday.
- During Bruce Allen’s press conference he said “there is not a leading candidate” for the new stadium developments. Allen was then asked if the team name is a barrier to building a stadium in D.C., would they reconsider their stance [on their name]. Allen responded with “No.”
- DeSean Jackson and Jamison Crowder wont play tonight vs the Detroit Lions. Which is not a surprise considering Jackson has not practiced and Crowder just returned to practice this week. Though it does sound like Crowder has a good shot at playing in the third preseason game. Gruden is hoping Jackson will be able to play also, but is still recovering from the separated shoulder he suffered in the joint practice with the Texans.
- The Redskins have given outside linebacker Trevardo Williams (on injured reserve) an injury settlement, and is now a free agent.
